1. Acceptance
By creating a MailSift account or accessing the API, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you are signing up on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.
2. The service
MailSift provides programmatic email verification: syntax checks, MX resolution, deliverability scoring, and related infrastructure features.
We may modify the service at any time, but will provide at least 30 days notice before any breaking API change.
3. Accounts and security
You are responsible for keeping API keys confidential. Treat keys like passwords. Rotate them if you suspect they have leaked.
You must be 16 or older to use MailSift.
4. Acceptable use
You may not use MailSift to: send unsolicited email; harass individuals; build databases of contact information for sale; circumvent rate limits or terms; or for any unlawful purpose.
We may suspend accounts that violate this section without notice in cases of imminent harm.
5. Billing and credits
Credits are one-time purchases and do not expire. We are not obligated to refund unused credits except where required by law.

6. Your data
You retain ownership of all data you submit. You grant us a limited license to process it solely to provide the service.
You are responsible for having a lawful basis to process the email addresses you submit, including, where applicable, consent under the GDPR.
7. Intellectual property
The MailSift platform, code, designs, and marks are our property or licensed to us. We grant you a non-transferable, revocable license to use the service for its intended purpose.
8. Warranty disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Email verification is probabilistic — we make no guarantee that a "valid" classification reflects deliverability at the moment of send.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability under these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) amounts you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $100.
10. Termination
Either party may terminate this agreement at any time. We may immediately suspend access for breaches of Section 4. On termination, you may export your data for 30 days; thereafter we will delete it according to our Privacy Policy.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be emailed at least 14 days before the effective date. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Exclusive venue: state and federal courts located in Delaware.
